AOC POSTER

07.23.20: Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y. addressed the House of Representatives in response to sexist, verbal abuse from a GOP politician. Her speech inspired me.

07.24.20 The next day, I quickly put together this poster design and shared the following caption on instagram:

“[A friend] texted me saying she wish she could get a poster of #AOC’s house address yesterday, and I said I’d make one for her if she wanted. Later, I thought, “What if I could sell it or donate profits to AOC’s campaign?” I saw her online store sells posters printed in the USA. This design was a quick, simple effort but the address in its entirety is beautiful and inspiring and I wanted to help share it in a timely manner. AOC makes me cry and cheer and vibe. I would love to send this to AOC’s team and store, if they want it, so I’m unabashedly hashtagging this in case they see it (if they do, DM me!). As an Army Brat, I never felt ‘at home’ until I studied, worked, lived, and loved in NYC. NYC will always be the first hometown I’ve ever had (and that beautiful city has welcomed and loved many of you that follow me, I know). AOC is one of the dopest leaders for, in my opinion, the best city in the world. AOC is the kind of leader I hope to see more of around the country. xoxo Stay safe y’all”

Update 8.15:20: I attempted to send this design to the AOC campaign via email and social media, but did not hear a response (it’s okay, they’re super busy!). I made a second version of the design to align with my friend’s aesthetic vision for the poster. We discussed the frustration of wanting a poster that is about disrespect from a man, and then we reframed it, saying to ourselves, “This is about a woman who was being brave, graceful, strong, and smart, and if we have this poster on our walls, it’s a reminder to ourselves and to people in our lives that we should emulate that spirit, and if we do that then over time the world will be different.”

This project was never for profit, but I’d like to send it out if people want it. You can now “buy” any of the following posters from me with the following process (you won’t actually be giving me any money, you won’t be getting a physical poster in the mail from me):

  1. Please donate any amount to AOC (#alwayscampaigning) OR the DNC esp in advance of the November 2020 presidential election.

  2. Then email me (ciao@amandatien.com) a screenshot of your donation along with the name of your poster design of choice (the name of each one is below each image)

  3. I will email you a high-res .jpg of a design of your choice from below along with instructions for where you can print it (choosing your own size, shipping, paper, etc) along with printing promo codes from me and some recommendations on frames.

Please reach out at my contact page with any questions. Thanks!
